Black Heaven

Lyrics

Sitting on a mountain top, watching birds fly through the sky.

More trees than people, everyone gets what he deserves.

Pray! Suffer! Die! God won’t help you!

Pray! Suffer! Die! God won’t help you!

Fire, death and torture coming with the devil.

He’s not looking evil, he’s not looking kind, just in the shape of mankind.

Pray! Suffer! Die! God won’t help you!

Pray! Suffer! Die! God won’t help you!

Lyrical themes

Destruction of the environment

Band comment:

Especially in times of climate change and its effects on the earth, one should become aware that we humans are the problem. ("He's not looking evil, he's not looking kind, just in the shape of mankind.") Despite this realization, nothing is done and we slowly put off our downfall. In the end, the earth will survive, but we as a species will not. ("Pray! Suffer! Die! God won't help you!")

Reign of Terror

Lyrics

He obeys his master to save all he needs.

To survive the sorrows and to stop to bleed.

The pain hurts like a thousand speeding bullets. (yeah)

He feels the power!

But he’s afraid to use it.

He’s captured in the tower!

In a world that doesn’t fit…

Overthrow your king,

He’s the mandrel in your eye.

He feeds from your pain.

Use your name!

You’re reaching for the hand – but you won’t catch it!

Sailing near the end, it’s time to change the course.

Looking up to the sky – searching for the answer.

You learned to love the darkness.

Forgot how to live in the light.

Taught by hunger and fear.

Rise from the ground my dear!

Overthrow your king,

He’s the mandrel in your eye.

He feeds from your pain.

Use your name !

Lyrical themes

Depression, abuse, sexual assault

Band comment:

Reign of Terror describes the situation of being put down or abused by one or more people/organizations, but having to endure this in order to survive. ("He obeys his master to save all he needs.")

However, the lyrics should motivate you to free yourself from these chains. You will be surprised what else is hiding in yourself.

Soldier in Disgrace

Lyrics

I wake up – surrounded by fear.

I can’t tell – why I’m here.

I can hear fire – I can hear the breath…

…Of nothing else – than the endless death.

I lost my home – I lost my wife.

I lost the will – to fight for my life.

I’ll never return – to this place

I’d rather die – than live in disgrace!

Far from this place…

…As a soldier of today! (yeah)

So here I stay – poor and alone

I know it’s my fault – cause I fight on my own.

So what now? What shall I do?

No god can help me – to see through

Go away – with your fake help!

No one can save me – from this hell!

I’ll never return – to this place

I’d rather die – than live in disgrace!

Far from this place…

…As a soldier of today! (yeah)

Lyrical themes

War, war crimes, PTSD, suicidal thoughts

Band comment:

Many people suffer from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Especially soldiers who return from war zones and are now left with nothing are often mentally thrown back into these inhumane situations. This disruption can go so far that at some point you could lose your entire family because you can no longer find your way back into real life. ("I lost my home – I lost my wife. I lost the will - to fight for my life.")

Stories of the Fallen

Lyrics

A cold walk through the night.

Knowing that I'll never see the light.

Great stories but no future in sight.

Feeling tired of life...

(have) been awake for to long,

forget how to sleep. Love and cry without any release.

Legends never walk alone.

Though I'm still here on my own.

But I'm still here - I'm still trying.

Yeah I'm still here - I'm still dying.

But I don't know where to go, I don't know what to show.

Her light that guided me, Is the only thing that I need.

Now I wanna die in her arms...

I wanna die - in - her - arms...

My only friend is the dark.

You're my life, my heart.

I can't carry this way.

Praying for the final day!

But I'm still here - I'm still trying.

Yeah I'm still here - I'm still dying.

But I don't know where to go, I don't know what to show.

Her light that guided me, Is the only thing that I need.

Now I wanna die in her arms...

I wanna die - in - her - arms...

Lyrical themes

Suicide, Depression, Grief

Band comment:

Many artists have the desire to make it big and perform their songs all over the world. You would feel immortal, you would have everything. Or would you? Stories of the Fallen describes that ambiguity within yourself when you think about what you could lose once you achieve everything you ever dreamed of. Losing your loved one in particular plays a very important role here. ("I wanna die - in - her - arms...")

Anger

Lyrics

Tell me why you're here – in my darkest hours!

Tell me what I've done, is it sweet or is it sour?!

Tell me why! Tell me why you're here!

I'm living a lie! A life of fear!

Remember the day. Without any hate.

I wanna see you bleed! That's all I need.

I've been trapped in this nightmare for far to long.

Now I cannot stop without hurting myself.

Tell me why! Tell me why you're here!

I'm living a lie! A life of fear!

Remember the day. Without any hate.

I wanna see you bleed! That's all I need.

Lyrical themes

Autoaggression, depression, despair

Band comment:

Anger describes the feeling of hatred towards people or things and how one is guided by these thoughts. Or how such settings can spoil beautiful moments. ("

Remember the day. Without any hate.")

Ignorance

Lyrics

An easy life is what you want

a life of peace without any sorrows.

You've got no strength, no will to fight

you fear the dark, you love the light.

Can you tell me why you judge

about things you don't know what

…it's like to live in a hard world.

I know you can't see because you're:

Ignorant! - You don't know a thing!

Ignorant! - The media pulls your strings!

Ignorant! - You've been blinded by Jesus!

Ignorant! - Something needs to change!

You don't care about what they say

cause you think you'll have to obey.

You follow their lead no matter where they go.

The path of god is what they show.

A mesmerizing Nazi dream,

the fear of unknown things is real.

Ignorant thoughts traveling through the nights.

The only war is inside your mind.

Ignorant! - You don't know a thing!

Ignorant! - The media pulls your strings!

Ignorant! - You've been blinded by Jesus!

Ignorant! - Something needs to change!

Lyrical themes

Misunderstanding of religion, right-wing extremism

Band comment:

Hostility towards everything that is not the way you would like it to be is at the forefront of Ignorance. Not being able to empathize with other people and criticizing their lifestyle because your own life was so simple and uncomplicated. ("Can you tell me why you judge, about things you don't know what...")

Fear

Lyrics

Never lived my life like they do. (fear controls you)

Never saw things like they do. (fear controls you)

I searched for a chance to escape, (fear controls you)

But I always bet. (fear controls you)

Don't search for escape!

It's your fate!

Fight against your fear!

You can see clear!

I'll fight against my fear, of living without control.

I wanna see clear, yeah I won't suffer (no!)

I won't let me be, a slave of insanity.

Fear controls me, please set me free!

I'm feeling so alone. (fear controls you)

The walls getting nearer. (fear controls you)

It's impossible to win, so... (fear controls you)

I want to die!

Lyrical themes

Schizophrenia, Anxiety, PTSD

Band comment:

Fear describes how to be controlled by fear. What is a daily experience for some people can be a huge challenge for others. Especially for introverts, the fear of contact with other people can be a lifelong limitation.

In Fear, however, one tries to free oneself from this fear in order to escape from this restriction. ("Fight against your fear! You can see clear!")

Rise of the Wolves

Lyrics

Lonely wolf roaming. No friends along.

Lonely wolf searching - for a place to stay.

Come and take him. Come and take my soul.

Come and burn yeah. Come and burn the sword.

Never forget what he felt. Never forget what he meant.

Almost broken almost dead. This was not over yet!

Bloody water spreading through. The only goal is finding you!

He took all the blame. Until she came...

Two wolves roaming. No cave around.

Two wolves trying. To wash away the blame.

Come and try to kill. Come and see us rise.

Come and see us drinking. Come and sacrifice your soul.

Never forget what he felt. Never forget what he meant.

Almost broken almost dead. This was not over yet!

Bloody water spreading through. The only goal is finding you!

He took all the blame. Until she came...

All wolves roaming. The revenge is ours!

Leave one wolf alive. The sheep will never be saved. (yeah)

Never forget what he felt. Never forget what he meant.

Almost broken almost dead. This was not over yet!

Bloody water spreading through. The only goal is finding you!

He took all the blame. Until she came...

Lyrical themes

Bullying, depression, vengefulness

Band comment:

Especially supporters of a fringe group know the feeling of being excluded or ridiculed by others because they are different from the rest. But as soon as they find people who are similar to themselves, they are able to defend themselves against these adversaries.

Rise of the Wolves describes this formation even to the point where the fringe becomes the rabble rousers themselves. ("All wolves roaming. The revenge is ours!Leave one wolf alive. The sheep will never be saved.")

Boisterous Silence

Lyrics

Mind packed with disorder

no sign to the outside

imitating the high seas.

Dying! Breakthrough! Forget! What's true!

Below the stormy boarders,

where the Boisterous Silence hides

...and sleeps there in peace

Try not to pull them beneath the waves.

Try not to pull them to you!

Realizing that you're the disease.

You're the sinking ship in the sea!

Drowning in your pain.

Try to open the gates!

Scarred by their lies.

Bleeding till I die!

Looking at the surface

facing yourself

rising from hell

Dying! Breakthrough! Forget! What's true!

Resting on your throne

Poseidon's reigning now

whispering to your son.

Try not to pull them beneath the waves.

Try not to pull them to you!

Realizing that you're the disease.

You're the sinking ship in the sea!

Drowning in your pain.

Try to open the gates!

Scarred by their lies.

Bleeding till I die!

Lyrical themes

depression

Band comment:

The song was dedicated to Jonas Grünenfelder's grandfather, who suffered from dementia. The realization that he was suffering from dementia provoked great depression in him. One is symbolically pulled under water by the negative thoughts. This comparison to water appears very often in Boisterous Silence. (f. ex. "Drowning in your pain.", "Try not to pull them beneath the waves.")

Also, the waves of the sea are meant to show the stormy thoughts of the sufferer, while the stillness under water reflects the suffering unrecognizable from the outside.

Instrumentally, too, the first half shows the depressive phases of the sufferer. Towards the end of the piece, it becomes increasingly uplifting and is intended to reflect healing from depression or redemption from death.
